These certificates are regulated by the Vocational Education Law, which includes provisions regarding security and order for certain business sectors.

What do these professional certificates entail?

The Security Guard Professional Certificate is issued after security personnel complete courses on job duties, patrolling, greeting, target observation, and record-keeping. This certificate is the basic requirement to start a career in security.

The Fire Prevention and First Aid Certificate courses provided by police academies and fire departments train security personnel in basic to advanced skills. With the first aid certificate, security personnel learn basic knowledge of administering first aid.

Although not among the most common, the C-TPAT Certificate is a specialized certification in anti-terrorism. It enhances expertise and the ability to respond to terrorism-related incidents.

Who has the authority to issue these professional certificates?

Security professional certificates are credible credentials confirming specialized skills within the industry. According to the law, various departments oversee the issuance of these certificates. Specifically, under Article 24 of Decree No. 96/2016/ND-CP:

The Administrative Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for issuing certificates, conducting examinations, and approving training programs for security personnel.
Provincial and municipal police departments are responsible for issuing certificates and conducting examinations for locally trained security personnel.
District-level police under provincial or central cities' authority are responsible for issuing certificates for security personnel and managing businesses' security conditions.

What is the validity period of these professional certificates?

The validity period of security professional certificates is five years from the date of issue. After expiration, security personnel must undergo training to renew their certificates.
